Over half a million well-trained volunteers nationwide help 4-H youth ages 5 – 19 achieve success. 4-H youth have learned to apply leadership skills and acquire a sense of responsibility, initiative, and feeling good about themselves. They learn how to discover knowledge and develop themselves by personalizing their projects, to raise questions, and seek answers important to themselves, their families, friends, and the community in which they live. They learn the 4-H motto and how to implicate it, “To Make the Best Better”. Boys and girls embody the foundation of the 4-H curriculum in the practical application of land-grant university knowledge. This knowledge base provides 4-H’ers with an opportunity to “learn by doing” in real situations.

4-H is experience-centered. Members enjoy creating meaningful curriculum with guidance from parents and leaders. 4-H challenges youth on an individual basis. We emphasize experience-centered education allowing for behavioral changes to occur, encouraging youth to discover new knowledge, skills, and attitudes. 4-H is helping youth gain: Leadership Skills; Career Training; Friends; Respect; Confidence; Self-discipline; Ethics; Communication Skills; and Responsibility.
