Join us for the 4-H Adirondack Guide Orientation and learn all about thisyear-long program!Open to all youth ages 12-18. The 4-H Adirondack Guide Programis an exciting and unique program designed for youth who would like to explore, in depth, natural resource related topics.The program gives teenagers an opportunity to gain knowledge in the biological sciences and develop teaching and leadership skills. ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:field trips and classes, canoe and hikingtrips, and community service projects.Topics taught includemap & compass reading; canoeing; tree, plant, flower and wildlife identification; environmental teaching techniques; woods lore and safety; First Aid training; outdoor clothing and equipment; wilderness trip coordination, Leave No Trace, and global positioning systems (GPS).Participants have the opportunity to work with licensed NYS Guides, Forest Rangers, Fish and Wildlife Biologists, Foresters and skilled woodsmen.The program is conducted in an informalatmosphere, conducive to building confidence and self-esteem.
