Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream

Did you know that you can make your own ice cream at home, even if you do not have an ice cream machine? You can, using some ziplock bags, rock salt, and ice. Try it out!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup cream
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • Gallon-size ziplock bag
  • Ice
  • Rock salt

Directions:

1. Stir the milk, cream, sugar and vanilla extract together in a bowl, then pour the mixture into a quart-size freezer ziplock bag.

2. Stick this bag inside a gallon-size ziplock, half-filled with ice and rock salt - about 2 cups of ice and 1/2 cup of salt.

3. Keep shaking the bag until the content of the inner bag are solidified (and if it doesn’t solidify, it’s delicious to eat anyway!).
