Old-Fashioned Pancakes

Making pancakes from scratch is very easy, and produces pancakes that are so much more delicious than those made from mixes! This recipe uses maple syrup instead of sugar, for a more natural, and flavorful pancake. If you do not have maple syrup on hand, you can substitute 1 Tablespoon of sugar for the maple syrup.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter or oil

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the maple syrup, milk, egg, and melted butter; mix until smooth.
  2. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium-high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. Brown on both sides and serve hot.
