Creating Native Habitat in Your Yard

  • Thursday, May 4, 2017, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM

On Thursday, May 4th the Town of Johnsburg Library will be hosting a talk given by Master Gardener Wanda Moccio on “Creating Native Habitat in Your Yard.” A yard or garden is a small engineered complete ecosystem in and of itself. It has the same components as larger, more elaborate ecosystems, and requires the same elements to survive. Explore how to create a more natural habitat in your yard or garden using ecosystem principles. Discussion will include the benefits of native plantings to wildlife and ourselves, suggestions for how to get started and where to obtain plants. The talk begins at 6pm, and Master Gardeners will be available to perform soil pH testing (first sample free, all others $1.00). No pre-registration is required.
